No Need For A Ball of Crystal

People are always saying to me, “I know God has a plan for my life, but what is it?” Yeah, I find myself there. I have been prophesied over and heard people say what I was “called” to do, but still I had questions and what not. So where do we go for answers??? The Word of God, but as I really began to search through the Bible, I noticed something. There is not a lot of information about the will of God for our future. Don’t get me wrong, God does speak of our future and there are scriptures that can give us an idea of what his plan for our life looks likes. My favorite scripture in the Bible, “For I know the plans I have for you…..plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) So, I have a future??? That’s good. But what about them plans??? So I’m studying this morning and I come across this scripture, Matthew 6:34 and Jesus says, “.., do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” If you go back to verse 25, Jesus is basically saying in a nutshell, don’t worry about where you will sleep, what you will eat, what you will wear because God is aware of what you need and he’s got you. All he is asking is for you to “Cast all your cares on him,” WHY??? “Because HE cares for you” (I Peter 5:7 NIV) So I guess that would include his plan for my life, or maybe his plan for my life is to simply trust that He’s got me. When I really think about it, my desire to know what the future holds is primarily based in fear. I want the security of knowing what the future brings rather than risk trusting God as the unfamiliar future unfolds. I want a light to shine to show the entire journey ahead so that I will know everything about the future and therefore be spared the difficulty of having to trust God. Maybe the simple will of God for my life is to simply rely on him.

The Fight Of Our Life

November 2007 sometime around Thanksgiving, I was in Deland, FL at the church of Pastor Everett Watson. I had just finished rapping, and Mrs. Bridget called me back to the front and she began to give me a word from God concerning, “Having to fight” in ministry. Now, there’s a chance she may read this, so let me come clean. What she said probably stayed with me until I got back on the road the following week. I guess it was the idea of having to fight as a part of the mission that God has called me to, didn’t quite vibe with me. For some reason I wanted to believe that if God called you to do something, it should be a stroll in the park. My childrens pastor Ms. Phyllis West would probably call this “stinking thinking”. Sidenote, these three afore mentioned people, Pastor Everett, Mrs. Bridget, Ms West, laid the foundation for the ministry that I do today. The greatest influences and examples anyone could have. Love them.

So recently, I received a word from God concerning what my next move is to be. It’s a task that to most would be scary. My thoughts where centered on the difficulty and the opposition we would face. So I go to the word. As I began to get in the word, two characters jumped out at me, Joshua and David. Here you have Joshua leading the children of Israel to a place referred to as the “PROMISE Land”. As Joshua is stepping up to lead these people to a land that was PROMISED by God, God tells him to be strong, be courageous, and not be discouraged. Whoa!!! Why does he have to do all that??? It can’t be that difficult to just walk in and chill somewhere? Or how about David, he just left the smelly field and was anointed King of Israel by the prophet Samuel. So straight to the palace right??? He gets to sit in the big chair.

Not exactly. Joshua and the children of Israel have to fight battles and wars in order to take the land. David ended up in the palace by way of caves why he ran for his life. Obstacles still came up, but the end result was still the promise. We have to learn that the promise does not mean the absense of obstacles. At times we are quick to Amen the promises of God, but when the trials show up, we quickly abandon the ship as if, that must not have been God’s will for me. Reality check, Jesus said in this world you will face trials, that’s a guarantee. Yet, Christ also says that because He has overcome the world, you can have peace or better yet rely on him for the victory. We live in a real world and we face real world issues, but we serve a Real God who is greater than _________________(You can fill that blank with whatever you want). You may find yourself facing obstacles or major trials, but we are not suppose to focus on the trial, keep your eye on the promise, but no matter what be ready to fight. Put your gloves on, but here’s a little secret, I CAN TELL YOU HOW IT ENDS!!!
