I received a call from a friend. The purpose of his call was to congratulate me for some recent opportunities that where offered to me. “Man, you are really doing it BIG for the kingdom. They’re going have you preaching and rapping everywhere. I can’t wait till I can do something BIG for God”. I began to think about the phrase, “Doing something BIG for God. This is a phrase that I have heard before, but it was almost cliché. I mean, I am thankful for every opportunity that God has given me, but is it really something BIG??? I mean Joel Osteen has a massive church, congregation, and a television ministry that is reaching nations around the world. That sounds BIG. Greg Laurie is the leader of Harvest Ministries and these guys pack out baseball fields for crusades and young people come from everywhere to these events. Lives changed in massive numbers. I would call that BIG. Billy Graham is the only person that I can think of who can get prime time, network television time to preach the message of Jesus to millions. That’s BIG. Or on a more socially driven scale, Mother Theresa who won the Nobel Peace prize for her renowned devotion to the poor, sick, orphaned and dying over a lifetime. That’s BIG. So if you are not doing it on that level you are not doing anything, right? I mean, if you can’t do it BIG, why do it at all? As I began to really think about this idea of BIG, a couple of things really came to mind. The question of what is BIG is mainly determined by the person who does the measuring. We feel that in order to truly honor God, we have to do something BIG or radical in order to be a world changer. The question we must ask ourselves is how does GOD measure? Let’s be honest, few of us will travel the world preaching the gospel, or travel to third world countries to enhance the lives of the poor. Most of us will not pastor a mega church or start a nonprofit organization that will tackle social issues at home and around the world. It would be nice, but that’s not everyone’s calling. So are we all of lesser importance in the kingdom of God if we do not accomplish one of those great feats? I guess what needs to happen first is we need to take the emphasis off of the “something” and focus on who the “something” is really about. Instead of doing something BIG for God, how about doing something for a BIG GOD. To wait to do something BIG is the missed opportunity to do something now. I read a quote that stated, “Don’t fail to do something just because you can’t do everything”. God is not requiring everyone to go across the globe to demonstrate his love, but we can at least go across the street. It’s in the little things that we do every day that places us on the path to fulfilling the will of God for our lives. Our walking in our purpose on daily basis is the main thing we can do for our BIG GOD. We cannot use the excuse of future aspirations as a justification of not doing something now. Got to start somewhere. Be Blessed.

You Are Not Alone
You don't have to be alone in your hurt! Comfort is yours. Joy is an option. And it's all been made possible by your Saviour. He went without comfort so you might have it. He postponed joy so you might share in it. He willingly chose isolation so you might never be alone in your hurt and sorrow.

What is Love???
I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me. I've always found that song kind of corny and maybe a little whiny. Once I was asked to read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, and substitute the word “Jesus” for “love.” It made a lot of sense to say, “Jesus is patient, Jesus is kind; Jesus does not envy; Jesus does not parade Himself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek His own . . . . Jesus never fails.”
Then I was told to replace love with my name. Really Dude??? So I began to say, “Trey is patient, Trey is kind; Trey does not envy; Trey does not parade Himself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek His own . . . . Trey never fails.”
So then the next question is.....Am I??? It's so easy to place the attributes of love with Jesus, but do I possess or exemplify ALL those attributes to EVERYONE??? Not a select few that I find it easy to love, but especially those that make it so hard to love them. To be Christian is more about living and acting as Christ and not just talking about him.

Who Died and Made You Judge???
Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier.” Luke 6:37 The Message Bible
Jim Bakker was a once world renowned televangelist and Assemblies of God minister. He had this show called the PTL Club which was much like TBN’s current Praise the Lord program which currently airs. (Bakker was a founding member of both the station and the program with Paul and Jan Crouch) He was extremely successful as a ministry. He even built Heritage USA which was a Christian theme park that was actually the third most successful theme park in the US at the time. Great success story, but as many of you know there was a sex scandal, accounting fraud, imprisonment, divorce, no more PTL or Jim Bakker.
But that’s not what this is about. There was another preacher by the name of Jimmy Swaggart. Actually I am grateful for Mr. Swaggart. It was through one of his television programs that I actually gave my life to Christ at the age of 4. (April 1986, holla at ya boy) Yet, there are 3 times I heard him Swagart that are forever etched in my memory. Of course the night I gave my life to Christ because he preached one of the best hell, fire and brimstone messages that I had ever heard. Scared me to my knees, literally. But the second one was the night he called the previously mentioned Jim Bakker “a cancer affecting the body of Christ”. Those where harsh words that many Christians cheered. (sadly) But the third time is what most remember him for. 1988, he uttered those 3 words that have been spoofed in SNL and In Living Color sketches, “I Have Sinned”. Another scandal followed in 1991.
“Judge not, less ye be judged…” Jesus tells us that whenever we sow seeds of conviction and criticism, we can count on reaping the same kind of harvest for ourselves. Are you being criticized??? Are you a victim of wrong or are you reaping the harvest of what you have sown???
I’ve heard it said that we judge others by their actions and ourselves by our good intentions. We know what’s in our hearts, but we assume what’s going on with others. “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 NIV) As Tupac said only God can judge me.
I have heard many things said about many people and for some reason many Christians want to be the first to champion criticism on these people. Not just Kenneth Copeland and Eddie Long, but someone tried to corner me today on Brett Favre. While it is true that it is our right to have an opinion, it’s not necessary that you voice it or act out on it. Honestly, it’s enough work for me to keep me straight. The only person I should be concerned with or making sure that they have it together is Tre’.
I think about how Jesus handled these situations. People caught this lady in the very act of adultery. Not alleged, but caught in the very act. What did Jesus Do? (Side note that’s my new bracelet W.D.J.D.-don’t steal it) He began writing/drawing in the dirt. (I wonder what he drew or wrote) His only response was, he without sin, cast the first stone. Now honestly, Jesus could have made that statement, began shining up a brick and tossed it at her head, like a major league pitcher. YOU’RE OUTTA THERE, but no, he said they “can’t” accuse you, nor do I. What Did Jesus Do

We Want A Revival
I have heard people talk about wanting a revival, we need a revival, or some other way of saying we want a move of God to happen. I was up studying this morning, came across this book by Tommy Tenney that I honestly didn’t know I had. I began to scan it, and I came across this part of the book about revival. Really made me think, check it out…..
No true revival has ever occurred simply because people sought revival. They where birthed when people sought Him. In our presumptuous thinking, we have said, “Okay, we’re going to hold a revival. “ You might as well try to hold a hurricane! If you can hold it, then “it ain’t revival.” If you can contain it or control it, then “it ain’t revival either.” We need to call it what it is: a series of good meetings complete with whipped –cream preaching and maraschino cherries of man on top! We may love it and lick our lips through every minute of it, but it isn’t revival. We have to face the fact that we have become addicted to all the things that accompany church, like the choirs and the music. But they are not what God calls “church” and they are not true revival either…. It’s time to seek the Reviver instead of revival! He wants to have intimate, close encounters with you and me. He wants to invade our homes with His abiding presence in a way that will make every visitor begin to weep with wonder and worship the moment they enter.

That's My Jam
So yeah, I do the rap thing, and I love worship music. I’m kinda new school with my music preferences, you know the Hillsong United stuff, (All I Need Is You- come on), Desperation Band, Chris Tomlin, you know the music that that just seems to drop you off in the presence of God. I love that. I have never been a fan of the old school hymns. Never really been exposed to them. From the more Gospel sounds of Faith Chapel Christian Center (Birmingham, AL) to the more Christian Contemporary styles of Victory (Philadelphia, PA) hymns have never played a major role in my worship experience. Oh nothing against Amazing Grace or the Old Rugged Cross, the message in these songs can change your life. So, I found myself sitting in church a couple of week’s back, with more on my mind than whatever Pastor Ed was talking about. (Sorry Pastor) All of sudden, he has this young lady to sing this hymn entitled What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Now, I have heard this hymn before, but this was the first time I have LISTENED to it. The whole thing is great, but there was one part that grabbed me…….
OH, WHAT PEACE WE OFTEN FORFEIT
OH, WHAT NEEDLESS PAIN WE BEAR
ALL BECAUSE WE DO NOT CARRY
EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYERThe idea that PEACE is being offered to us, and we will give it up, all because we do not give it to God in prayer. What a concept/idea. I can have rest, be at peace, chill out if only I give the problem to God. Not only give it to him, but allow him to keep it and realize that he’s the only one who can fix it. He’s the only one that can make it right. Take it to God in Prayer
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.
Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

Hate and the Pulpit by Jim L Evans
I know it's not new, I guess I am just more aware of it. But it does seem to be more prevalent. I am talking about anger and hate filled language spoken from American pulpits. The high profile example is Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The pastor was filmed spewing anger and venom to his predominantly black congregation about the white establishment's treatment of black people. It's hard to call the tirade anything other than what it was--hate speech. And even if we can understand where the anger and hate is coming from--generations of abuse and oppressive segregation, I wonder if fueling resentment is the best way forward. That racism is still a problem in this country is beyond dispute. But deepening the divide will not heal the breach. We have witnessed other examples of sanctified hate: Louis Farrakhan's rants about Jews, John Hagee's tirades against homosexuals, Pat Robertson's suggestion that Hugo Chavez should be assassinated, Richard Land calling Hillary Clinton a witch and Charles Schumer a "schmuck," and we won't even begin to talk about the folks from Westboro Baptist Church and their itinerant ministry of hate. What's going on here? Well, if I might quote an old rock song, "it starts when you're always afraid." Since 9/11 fear has become our primary response to the world. And the list of things we have to fear gets longer every day. We are afraid of being attacked by terrorists again. That's why we are told that the terrorists must be fought over there so we won't have to fight them over here. We are also afraid the resources of the world are running out. Will there be clean water to drink? Will there be gas for my car? Will there be Social Security for my retirement? Will my children be able to afford college? Our way of life and standard of living seem very much at risk, and that makes us anxious and angry. Eventually we become wary of our neighbors. Our fear drives us to ever more isolated forms of living. We spend way too much time watching Fox News and CNN where fear is spooned up every quarter hour. But why drag God into it? Because deep in our bones we believe God could fix what's wrong with our world but for some reason chooses not to. Our sorry state of affairs must be God's punishment for some egregious sin we have committed. And so we start looking for scapegoats. Pat Robertson and John Hagee believe 9/11 happened because America tolerates of gays, lesbians and feminists. Farrakhan thinks Jews are the root of all evil, and Rev. Wright believes it's the white establishment. As fear increases, reason decreases--which is both dangerous and sad. Dangerous because in our fear we are likely to strike out and do harm to ourselves and others. Sad because without reason we will never achieve the vision God has for us as human beings. It's no wonder Jesus told his followers over and over again, "Fear not." It's the key to his command for us to love our neighbors and our enemies. Our fear of neighbor and enemy is the root of all the evil that plagues us. In order to fulfill God's vision for us we must find the courage to love. Otherwise our fear and the resulting hate will consume us. James L. Evans is pastor of Auburn First Baptist Church in Auburn, Ala.

No Need For A Crystal Ball
People are always saying to me, “I know God has a plan for my life, but what is it?” Yeah, I find myself there. I have been prophesied over and heard people say what I was “called” to do, but still I had questions and what not. So where do we go for answers??? The Word of God, but as I really began to search through the Bible, I noticed something. There is not a lot of information about the will of God for our future. Don’t get me wrong, God does speak of our future and there are scriptures that can give us an idea of what his plan for our life looks likes. My favorite scripture in the Bible, “For I know the plans I have for you…..plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) So, I have a future??? That’s good. But what about them plans??? So I’m studying this morning and I come across this scripture, Matthew 6:34 and Jesus say, “.., do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” If you go back to verse 25, Jesus is basically saying in a nutshell, don’t worry about where you will sleep, what you will eat, what you will wear because God is aware of what you need and he’s got you. All he is asking is for you to “Cast all your cares on him,” WHY??? “Because HE cares for you” (I Peter 5:7 NIV) So I guess that would include his plan for my life, or maybe his plan for my life is to simply trust that He’s got me. When I really think about it, my desire to know what the future holds is primarily based in fear. I want the security of knowing what the future brings rather than risk trusting God as the unfamiliar future unfolds. I want a light to shine to show the entire journey ahead so that I will know everything about the future and therefore be spared the difficulty of having to trust God. Maybe the simple will of God for my life is to simply rely on him.

Man That's A Long Time
I have been studying about Joshua and the Children of Israel and their conquest into the promise land. I have preached on this idea of having to fight to attain the “Promise Land” a couple of times of the past few months as well as blogged about it. But there was another aspect I came across in my studying last night/this morning. It took them 7 years to take the land. That’s 7 years of fighting for a promise. Man, that’s a long time. It made me think of another 7 year fight for a promise. Today is June 11, 2010 and it just so happens to be my little sisters birthday. Jennifer is turning 17 today.
That’s my heart right there, Trey’ loves his little sister. Seventeen years ago, she was born, but that’s not where the story really is told. It lies more with my mom, love my MOM!
The story of Jennifer’s birth is probably one of the weirdest things I have ever had the honor to witness. I can’t give the whole story, it would take my mom to do that, but here’s the Cliff’s Notes version. There’s a woman who wants a baby girl. This woman, names this baby girl Jennifer before conception. The next series of events take place over a 7 year span; Husband doesn’t want child, Husband wants child, several doctors say woman has zero chance of having a baby, woman prays, woman tells people I’m having a baby, people at first say ok, years past, no baby, doctors still say no chance, woman has surgeries, woman needs hysterectomy, doctor has approval for hysterectomy, makes the cut, can’t follow through with procedure, doesn’t know why, time keeps moving, woman getting older, woman still saying I’m having a baby named Jennifer, people laugh, woman buys dress for invisible baby, woman makes nursery for invisible baby, people think woman has lost mind, woman still believes she will have baby, woman believes that God told her “You will have a seed and it will serve me”, woman keeps telling people she is having a baby girl, woman nears 39, and becomes pregnant, woman insist she will have a baby girl, many ask woman about the chance of having a boy, woman says no, 7 years later on a June morning woman has baby girl. My mom believed despite what she was told, what her body was doing, what statistics said, she would have a baby girl. My mom prayed and believed despite all the laughs and ridicule of friends and family (even her son). My parents had the opportunity to adopt or go other routes, but she chose to stick with God. 7 years…….Man That’s A Long Time!!! 17 years later,
I’m glad she did. Happy Birthday Jennifer, Be Blessed

GEN COLIN POWELL'S NARRATION
The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve.
Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity.
An important attribute in truly successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people.
As you grow, your associates will change. Some of your friends will not want you to go on. They will want you to stay where they are...
Friends who don't help you climb will want you to crawl. Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dream.
Those who don't increase you will eventually decrease you. Don’t stay around people who only tolerate you but don’t celebrate you.
Consider this: Never receive counsel from unproductive people.
Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life.
You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don’t follow anyone who's not going anywhere...
With some people, you spend an evening: with others you invest it. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life.
Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships. If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl.
But, if you associate with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights.
Never forget, however that God may put you into someone’s life to help (not force) them to soar.
"A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses."
The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate - for the good and the bad.
Note: Be not mistaken. This is applicable to family as well as friends.
Yes...do love, appreciate and be thankful for your family, they will always be your family no matter what.
Just know that they are human first and though they are family to you, they may be a friend to someone else and will fit somewhere in the criteria above.
"In Prosperity Our Friends Know Us. In Adversity We Know Our friends."
"Never make someone a priority when you are only an option for them."
"If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters.
Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude"...
Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity.

No Need For A Ball of Crystal
So I’m studying this morning and I come across this scripture, Matthew 6:34 and Jesus says, “.., do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” If you go back to verse 25, Jesus is basically saying in a nutshell, don’t worry about where you will sleep, what you will eat, what you will wear because God is aware of what you need and he’s got you.

The Fight Of Our Life
November 2007 sometime around Thanksgiving, I was in Deland, FL at the church of Pastor Everett Watson. I had just finished rapping, and Mrs. Bridget called me back to the front and she began to give me a word from God concerning, “Having to fight” in ministry. Now, there’s a chance she may read this, so let me come clean. What she said probably stayed with me until I got back on the road the following week. I guess it was the idea of having to fight as a part of the mission that God has called me to, didn’t quite vibe with me. For some reason I wanted to believe that if God called you to do something, it should be a stroll in the park. My childrens pastor Ms. Phyllis West would probably call this “stinking thinking”. Sidenote, these three afore mentioned people, Pastor Everett, Mrs. Bridget, Ms West, laid the foundation for the ministry that I do today. The greatest influences and examples anyone could have. Love them.
So recently, I received a word from God concerning what my next move is to be. It’s a task that to most would be scary. My thoughts where centered on the difficulty and the opposition we would face. So I go to the word. As I began to get in the word, two characters jumped out at me, Joshua and David. Here you have Joshua leading the children of Israel to a place referred to as the “PROMISE Land”. As Joshua is stepping up to lead these people to a land that was PROMISED by God, God tells him to be strong, be courageous, and not be discouraged. Whoa!!! Why does he have to do all that??? It can’t be that difficult to just walk in and chill somewhere? Or how about David, he just left the smelly field and was anointed King of Israel by the prophet Samuel. So straight to the palace right??? He gets to sit in the big chair.
Not exactly. Joshua and the children of Israel have to fight battles and wars in order to take the land. David ended up in the palace by way of caves why he ran for his life. Obstacles still came up, but the end result was still the promise. We have to learn that the promise does not mean the absense of obstacles. At times we are quick to Amen the promises of God, but when the trials show up, we quickly abandon the ship as if, that must not have been God’s will for me. Reality check, Jesus said in this world you will face trials, that’s a guarantee. Yet, Christ also says that because He has overcome the world, you can have peace or better yet rely on him for the victory. We live in a real world and we face real world issues, but we serve a Real God who is greater than _________________(You can fill that blank with whatever you want). You may find yourself facing obstacles or major trials, but we are not suppose to focus on the trial, keep your eye on the promise, but no matter what be ready to fight. Put your gloves on, but here’s a little secret, I CAN TELL YOU HOW IT ENDS!!!

Reset
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me"- Psalm 51:10
Each of us are scarred with a past that if we allow it, can prevent us from reaching our full potential and purpose. Most of us, when we first got saved, had this fire for God that made us feel that we could change the world. How do we get back to that new born-again, unconquerable faith that drove us with fire, passion and desire to be all that God has called us to be. Now is the time for all of us to find it once again. Be All That God Made You To Be

UNTIMELY DEATH!!!!!!!!
I hate forwards!!!! Can't stand them. The whole, if you want a blessing, send to 10 people. Stupid!!! Or if you do not send this to 5 people in 5 minutes something bad will happen. DUMB!!! So when this was sent to me, I quickly went to slide my finger across the screen and delete it, but it opened. Darn!!! So I began to read, and what I read was rather interesting, so I felt the need to share it. Note: God is God, blessings.
DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS?
I SURE DIDNT TILL NOW
Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap....
Here are some men and women who mocked God :
John Lennon (Singer):
Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said: 'Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him' (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.
Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil):
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.
Cazuza (Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During A show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: ‘God, that's for you.'
He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.
The man who built the Titanic
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said:
'Not even God can sink it'
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic
Marilyn Monroe (Actress)
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said:
'I don't need your Jesus'.
A week later, she was found dead in her apartment
Bon Scott (Singer)
The ex-vocalist of the group AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
'Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'.
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked
by his own vomit..
Campinas (IN 2005) In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend.....
The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:
'My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.'
She responded: 'Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause
Inside Here......It's Already Full’
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken
Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.
Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus.
Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive.

Hopeless
So, today there was a program at a local high school. The speakers where two local DJ’s from a hip-hop station, a police officer and a guy from prison via satellite. The guy from prison is serving 52 years for various offenses. The point of the program was to speak to the young people about choices and making wise decisions. First off, this was a tough crowd. The kids didn’t seem to really hear or care to hear what any of the speakers where saying. So, there’s a Q&A portion. This young lady stands up and asked the police officer, “Why do y’all be harrassin drug dealers, when all they be doing is tryin’ to support they families?” {applause}. Hold up, let me explain that a little better. It was an uproar of approval, clapping and cheering. REALLY?!? Our youth has it soooooooooooo twisted. There’s a lot of work to be done, but I’m up for it. I had someone say to me, “Tre, the youth of today are hopeless. Don’t waste your time”. I don’t see it that way. The work is great, but so are the rewards. Some would look at today, and see a lost cause. I see a great opportunity for God to show out.
