I have been studying about Joshua and the Children of Israel and their conquest into the promise land. I have preached on this idea of having to fight to attain the “Promise Land” a couple of times of the past few months as well as blogged about it. But there was another aspect I came across in my studying last night/this morning. It took them 7 years to take the land. That’s 7 years of fighting for a promise. Man, that’s a long time. It made me think of another 7 year fight for a promise. Today is June 11, 2010 and it just so happens to be my little sisters birthday. Jennifer is turning 17 today.

That’s my heart right there, Trey’ loves his little sister. Seventeen years ago, she was born, but that’s not where the story really is told. It lies more with my mom, love my MOM!

The story of Jennifer’s birth is probably one of the weirdest things I have ever had the honor to witness. I can’t give the whole story, it would take my mom to do that, but here’s the Cliff’s Notes version. There’s a woman who wants a baby girl. This woman, names this baby girl Jennifer before conception. The next series of events take place over a 7 year span; Husband doesn’t want child, Husband wants child, several doctors say woman has zero chance of having a baby, woman prays, woman tells people I’m having a baby, people at first say ok, years past, no baby, doctors still say no chance, woman has surgeries, woman needs hysterectomy, doctor has approval for hysterectomy, makes the cut, can’t follow through with procedure, doesn’t know why, time keeps moving, woman getting older, woman still saying I’m having a baby named Jennifer, people laugh, woman buys dress for invisible baby, woman makes nursery for invisible baby, people think woman has lost mind, woman still believes she will have baby, woman believes that God told her “You will have a seed and it will serve me”, woman keeps telling people she is having a baby girl, woman nears 39, and becomes pregnant, woman insist she will have a baby girl, many ask woman about the chance of having a boy, woman says no, 7 years later on a June morning woman has baby girl. My mom believed despite what she was told, what her body was doing, what statistics said, she would have a baby girl. My mom prayed and believed despite all the laughs and ridicule of friends and family (even her son). My parents had the opportunity to adopt or go other routes, but she chose to stick with God. 7 years…….Man That’s A Long Time!!! 17 years later,

I’m glad she did. Happy Birthday Jennifer, Be Blessed
