Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite verse in the whole Bible. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Man, there's more promise in that verse than a whole presidential campaign. We love that verse. It gives you a sense of purpose and sure footing in an unsteady ever changing world. BUT, there something about this chapter that we tend to either overlook or not pay attention. This scripture is part of a prophesy being given to people who are living in exile. FUN, FUN, FUN!!! In verses 5 through 7, God is giving instructions of build homes, get married, have children, live in peace, and pray for the country and the people who took you captive. WHAT?!? Let me get this right God, You expect me to live like nothings wrong although my home was destroyed, I am being held captive in this place I hate, and you want me to pray for them??? God, you are tripping!!! Here's my prayer, Lord, strike em down Father (In My Grandma Voice) But that's not to be our response. The only response God wants is obedience. God gives all the instructions because, I know the plans I have for you," declares the lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. You may not like the plan, you may not understand the plan, but because we love God, we will trust God. We will trust that he has our best interest in mind. He didn't promise it would be easy, He didn't promise it would be fun. What he did promise was to never leave you nor forsake you. We have to trust the plan, but more so trust the planner. Father knows best.
